fall/winter 2021 photo contest
Everyday Birth Magazine’s mission is to expand representation in pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and beyond while providing high-quality education and storytelling that benefits all parents and people. This year, we are pleased to announce our first photography contest, rewarding and showcasing the work of talented photographers who have documented pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
Entry is free.
Applicants may submit up to 7 images for consideration.
Images taken in 2020 and 2021 preferred. Images taken in 2019 will also be considered.
Submit images as JPGs, at least 2000 px on one side, high resolution. No watermarks, text, or borders. Include image title, year taken + photographer's last name in each file name. Ex. "Labor Power_2020_Hernández.jpg"
The winning photographer will receive $150 and the winning image will be displayed on the cover of the Fall/Winter 2021 issue of Everyday Birth Magazine.
A short list of up to 10 photographers may be offered publication in this issue. All published photographers will receive complimentary copies of the Fall/Winter 2021 issue.
A short list of up to 15 images may be highlighted as honorable mentions, shared on The Educated Birth's website, via email, and across our social media.
Our panel of judges, which may include our magazine's editors, photographers, artists, and select reproductive health workers, will be assessing images on the following criteria:
artistic + visual impact
inclusion + representation
creativity + originality
We encourage photographers from underrepresented communities to enter — we hope to have many folks across the intersections of gender identity, assigned sex, race, class, sexuality, faith, disability, physical appearance + more represented both behind and ahead of the lens! This contest is open for all!
